Progressive Pesantren: Challenging the Madrasa Myth in Java, with Abdul Nasir Khan. 2010. 15 min.  In this video we contrast commonly held concepts of madrasas as institutions that promote violence and extremism with the reality of progressive madrasas, called pesantren, in Java, Indonesia.  Viewers have the chance to visit a school, and listen to students and education advocates who work with pesantren explaining the structure of school days and activities.  Pesantren education can emphasize balancing individual and communal experiences in religious practice, offering community members both a site for religious education and a progressive social center.  See film at: https://youtu.be/Z2SIN8VG64A

The Culture of Here: Preserving Local History in a Local Museum, with Abdul Nasir Khan. 2006. 30 min. This video documentary is about the development and opening of a local history museum in Kargil (North India), which offers the community a chance to interact with relics of their global trading past.  The video relates how museum representations of history are transformed through local interaction and celebrates the preservation of local history.  The film is used by the Munshi Aziz Bhat Museum as part of an exhibit for visitor orientation and information, and was shown at the 2009 meetings of the International Association of Ladakh Studies (Leh, India) and the Florida Conference of Historians (Tallahassee, FL) in February 2010.  See film trailer at: https://youtu.be/XG0R28T8NyY
